Get comfortable with being uncomfortable
Depending on the city you’re moving to, public transportation (subway, bus, etc) may be a better/cheaper option than driving a personal car. Additionally, you’ll probably experience life a little differently, whether it’s the weather, the hustle of the city, the people, and everything else. Being uncomfortable may be your new norm.
Prepare your savings before moving
City life is notoriously more expensive than the suburbs. Make sure you have at least a few months’ worth of savings squirreled away if you can. This will make the transition much smoother.
Get a reliable storage unit
If you’re moving to a smaller apartment or home, you’ll probably have to get rid of some things. But don’t fret – you don’t have to get rid of all your valuable furniture and other possessions. Renting an affordable storage unit is a great way to keep your things, while keeping them out of your apartment.
Have fun!
Moving to a city from the suburbs means you’re surrounded by so much more life than before. From bars, restaurants, to all kinds of entertainment and activities, you’ll have no shortage of things to do. Make the most of it, and have fun!
